Terrible spring weather has marred the lead-up to the Pennant season, but the forecast is better for the season proper.
After a highly successful 2015-16 season (C2 Grade winners pictured above), the club is gearing up for a super summer of 2016-17.
Junior registration takes place in September, with Darryl Mason coaching the Under 16s; Nev Wenham and Richard Livingston taking on the Under 14s; and Andy Hayden and Brodie Whitbourne leading the Under 12s.
Justin Nichele takes over as A Grade captain, Luke Elliott will continue as B Grade captain, while Nev Wenham takes over as C Grade captain.
The club has received a $20,000 grant from the ANZ Dream Big program, one of just four awarded nationally. The funds will go towards renovation of its facilities, including a new change room.
Former Australian Diamond captain Laura Geitz visited the club on October 6 to present the cheque to club president Tony Richter and player Madison Turley. They are pictured below with sponsors Phil Dodd and Sarah Mack, Star Club officer Jeremy Bell and Ian Martin from ANZ Bank.
Congratulations to the Senior 6 team, who made the 2016 grand final and to the 11 & Under Division 3 and the 13 & Under Division 2 girls, who won their grand finals.
Three senior teams, three intermediate teams and four junior teams proudly wore the Port Elliot colours in the 2016 season. Pictured below the premiership-winning U11s were intense on the court against Langhorne Creek and the Senior 2s leapt high against Strathalbyn.
Established in 1933, The Port Elliot Surf Life Saving Club is located at stunning Horseshoe Bay.
The club has more than 500 members, and a huge team of volunteers patrol the beaches all summer and ensure that families are as safe as possible when on our beautiful south coast.
In 2016 Club patron and life governer Bob Bruce has been inducted into the Surf Lifesaving SA Hall of Fame.
The 2016-17 lifesaving season runs from October 8 to Easter Monday, April 17.
